Dr Seuss Class

Early Years Intent

At Rosherville we aim for all our children to learn new skills, to develop their talents and with this, a love of learning. We strive for them to be confident and articulate when communicating. Growing into sensitive, tolerant and caring citizens for the future. They will learn to collaborate and flourish through fellowship, learning from and with each other.

Our Christian belief is that the God-given talents of all children should be encouraged and developed, recognising and valuing their unique worth.

Welcome to Dr Seuss Class

Our teacher this year is Mrs McCormick and our teaching assistants are Miss Horrobin and Miss Punshon.

Our first topic in term 1 will be ‘Wonderful Me!’ This topic is all about YOU!

We will be focusing on exciting things that have happened to you in your life. This could include starting reception, the birth of a sibling, going on holiday, moving house, starting a club… anything!

We will be also focusing on things that are really important to you. This could be your favourite toy, an award/certificate that is special to you, a piece of jewellery.

This term we will also be focusing on ‘Humpty Dumpty and his Friends’. We will learn several nursery rhymes and create actions for them. Once we know the nursery rhymes really well, we will make up our own versions by changing some of the words. We will also create story maps for the following nursery rhymes: ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’. The nursery rhymes will then help inspire us to create lots of art work using chalk, crayons, play dough and paint.

If you would like to find out more about what we will be learning this term then please have a look at the documents attached below.
