Welcome to Jill Murphy Class (Year 1)

Our class is named after the famous children’s author, Jill Murphy. We love her books and enjoy reading them regularly.

Our teacher this year is Mr Till and our teaching assistants are Mrs Salisbury-Jones, Miss Punshon and Miss Horrobin.

Our class charity for this year is ‘Rainforest Concern’, a British charity that works hard to protect threatened, natural habitats and the biodiversity that they contain. In term 5 we will be raising money for charity by having a coffee morning where the children will be dressed as animals and they will perform a song!

We love to stay active in Jill Murphy’s class and we do PE every Tuesday. In Terms 1 and 2 we are learning to throw, catch and travel; in Term 3 we are doing gymnastics; in Term 4 we are learning to kick, jump and dance; in Term 5 we are striking and fielding, and in Term 6 we are doing athletics.

We look forward to welcoming you into Jill Murphy’s Class!

Timetable

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.

Terms/Topic Information

Our learning this year will be based on the topics below and will change accordingly each term. Parents will receive a Topic Web, Knowledge Organiser and recommended Reads at the start of each term informing them about what the children will be learning. This will also be available below to download.

At Rosherville Church of England Academy, we have introduced ‘50 Things Before I Leave Rosherville Primary’, this helps to give children the opportunity to tick off big items throughout their primary years. The experiences and activities Year One get to complete include:
