Class Information
Year 6 Class Teacher: Mrs S Burrha
Year 6 Class Teaching Assistant: Mrs C Cooper

Welcome to William Shakespeare Class (Year 6)
Mrs Burrha is the class teacher supported by Mrs Cooper, the teaching assistant.
Three main topics are taught over the year and History, Geography, Art, DT, Literacy and Guided Reading are all linked to the topics. Maths, Computing, Music, PE and PSHE are also taught. You can see from the Medium Term plan what the children will learn in each subject.
In terms 3 and 4, our class charity – Help the Heroes, children will think of their own ideas as to how they can raise money for this charity.
PE is taught every Tuesday morning and children learn a wide range of skills that can be applied in a number of sports: netball, hockey, cricket, football, gymnastics and athletics. They will learn the skills needed to play each sport and the rules.
Children in Year 6 also take part in a number of key roles within the school. They are part of the School council, voted by the children at the beginning of the year and guide other school council members from the younger year groups. The pupils are also housed captains so are responsible for collecting house points at the end of each week as well as being play leaders to ensure games are set up and all children are playing during lunchtime and playtime.
Lastly, we ensure to follow the national curriculum for the primary curriculum in England for programmes of study and attainment targets for KS2.
We look forward to welcoming you into William Shakespeare Class!
Timetable
Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.
Terms/Topic Information
Our learning this year will be based on the topics below and will change accordingly each term. Parents will receive a Topic Web, Knowledge Organiser and recommended Reads at the start of each term informing them about what the children will be learning. This will also be available below to download.
At Rosherville Church of England Academy, we have introduced ‘50 Things Before I Leave Rosherville Primary’, this helps to give children the opportunity to tick off big items throughout their primary years. The experiences and activities Year Six get to complete include:
#3 Learn Fire Safety
#24 Cook on a Fire Outdoors
#39 Go on a Residential Trip
#41 Say 10 Phrases in Another Language
