Class Information
Year 5 Class Teacher: Mrs S Henriksen
I’m absolutely delighted to be teaching Year 5 this year! It’s such an exciting stage in primary school where children grow in independence, curiosity, and confidence. We have a fantastic year ahead filled with rich learning experiences, new challenges, and lots of opportunities to explore and grow.
Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories in Year 5!

Welcome to Rauf Class (Year 5)
Throughout the year, the children are taught all the subjects from the National Curriculum. Most subjects are taught each week but some will alternate fortnightly as this enables us to focus fully on the units of work. One of the highlights of the year will be an exciting visit to the Science Museum, where pupils will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on exhibits and interactive learning experiences.
Year 5 pupils will take on classroom responsibilities to develop their leadership and organisational skills. Children will be given class jobs, such as book monitors, line leaders, or tech assistants, which will rotate each term. This gives every child the chance to contribute to the smooth running of the class and take pride in their role.
We also place a strong emphasis on the importance of home learning in Year 5. Regular practice at home, particularly in reading, spelling, and times tables, helps reinforce key skills and builds confidence. Home learning encourages independence, responsibility, and good study habits in preparation for the challenges of upper Key Stage 2 and beyond. We greatly appreciate the support of families in making home learning a positive and consistent part of each child’s routine
PE is taught every Tuesday and Friday. In Terms 1 and 2 we will go swimming as our Tuesday PE lesson.
Timetable
Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.
Terms/Topic Information
Our learning this year is outlined in the long-term plan (link above) and will change accordingly each term. You can also access Knowledge Organisers and our timetable.
More Information about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.
