Shining Bright Together: Year 5’s Lantern Workshop and Community Parade Celebration
On 29th January 2026, Year 5 took part in an inspiring Art workshop where they designed and created lanterns representing themselves within their community. During the session, the children explored a range of sculpting techniques and worked collaboratively to bring their ideas to life. They also took part in peer assessment, thoughtfully reflecting on and celebrating one another’s work.
The project concluded with a fantastic opportunity to participate in a local community parade on 6th February 2026. Despite the rain, Year 5 proudly showcased their impressive lanterns, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and community spirit. The parade, led by EDC and CohesionPlus, was a great success. We all enjoyed the live music, the entertainment and the finale fire show. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved and a brilliant way to celebrate their hard work.
