Rosherville Celebrates Rosh Hashanah
The whole school celebrated Rosh Hashanah – a Jewish celebration of a new start and the creation of the world.
The children in Morpurgo class did a wide range of activities – Collages a Star of David, made a box for their sweets, wrote how to forgive on the outline of our hands and did some quizzes and word searches. The most fun part was eating apples dipped in honey which symbolises the hope of a sweet new year.
Dahl Class, had fun painting patterns for Shofar horns but could not make until the paint had dried after the weekend. They also enjoyed dipping apples in honey.
Rauf Class explored the significance of pomegranates and apples in relation to the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. These fruits, rich in symbolism, represent the wishes for a sweet and fruitful year ahead, with the pomegranate, in particular, symbolizing the hope for a year filled with good deeds. This hands-on learning experience not only deepened their understanding of cultural traditions but also served as an insight to them about the importance of reflection, growth, and setting goals
