Year 6 Expressive Arts
Year 6 recently took part in an inspiring Expressive Arts Workshop, where creativity and history came together in a powerful way. The children explored significant historic events and responded to them through a combination of visual art and poetry.
Throughout the session, pupils reflected thoughtfully on the emotions, stories and impact behind the events they were studying. Using a range of artistic techniques, including sketching and shading, they created artwork that captured mood and meaning. Alongside their drawings, the children carefully selected words and phrases to deepen the message of their pieces, demonstrating both imagination and empathy.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to think critically about the past while expressing their ideas in a personal and creative way. They showed great focus, maturity and enthusiasm, supporting one another and taking pride in their work.
We were incredibly impressed with the depth of thought and the high quality of the finished pieces. The results were both moving and visually striking, a wonderful showcase of Year 6’s creativity and reflective skills.
