Rosherville CofE Academy Celebrates the 75th Birthday of the NHS
Rosherville Church of England Academy has partnered with the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS. Following the pupils participation in the school-wide art competition organised and judged by the NHS Trust, winners and runners up were selected from each class. Mrs Roddan commented, “It’s been a delight to work with Darent Valley Hospital to create some artwork that will be put on display so that when people come to the hospital, they know that the rest of the community is thinking about them.”
On Friday 30th June 2023, the selected pupils, their parents and staff attended an award ceremony at Darent Valley Hospital, where the pupils received recognition for their contribution and certificates were presented by Siobhan Callanan, Chief Nurse at the NHS Trust. Callanan commented “It’s really important for us as an NHS organisation to work with our community, to reach out and for them to reach in. It’s so lovely to hear the children’s voices here today, they bring a lot of joy and energy with them.”
The artwork will now be displayed along the corridors of the Children Resource Centre. One Year 6 pupil stated, “It’s been amazing to come to the hospital today to meet everyone. It’s really good to see where the artwork is going to be displayed”.
Mrs Roddan summed up the experience stating, “We’re hoping that this is going to be the start of a good partnership between Rosherville and Darent Valley Hospital, to work together to bring the very best to our community. All in all, a brilliant day for the children, for the school and the hospital.”
This event is part of an organised celebration of the NHS 75th birthday on 5th of July 2023 and is an opportunity to build community spirit as well as mark the special milestone.
